Overview:
This article walks through how to schedule a patient through the 'Schedule a Patient' tab.
When first logging in from the blockit homepage, the scheduler automatically lands on the “Schedule a Patient” page. If the scheduler is navigating from another page in the platform, the navigator will need to select the “Schedule a Patient” tab or click the large blockit logo in the upper left-hand corner to return to this screen.
Steps:
1. Select the Sending Provider from the available options in the drop down menu. This is a required step in the referral process and can include locations or providers.
2. In some cases, blockit is synced with patient search through the sending facility's EMR, so inputting the first name of the patient will yield a drop down of all available patients from the sending EMR. In other cases, patients can be manually added by clicking 'Add New Patient.'
2.a. To add a patient, click “Add New Patient.” Then, a side panel will appear where you can enter all the necessary information for the patient. Required fields are marked with a red asterisk, but we highly recommend inputting all suggested data.
3. After inputting patient information, select 'specialty' from the available options in the dropdown menu, then select visit type that corresponds with the specialty.
4. If network groups are active, select the appropriate network group for this patient referral. Select 'Search.'
5. The next screen allows the scheduler to verify patient demographic information and further refine search criteria by searching for a specific provider or filtering by language, insurance options, distance, and availability.
6. Once the search is refined, the scheduler will find the appropriate provider and book the appointment.
7. When the navigator locates the appropriate provider, there are a few options for sending a referral depending on the account (certain buttons may be visible or invisible depending on the company's workflow). There are options to “Send to Patient”, “Send to Provider”, or book directly by selecting an open time slot. For more information on “Sending to Patient” and “Sending to Provider,” please visit these relevant articles.
8. To select an available time slot, simply click on the appropriate, open slot. The right arrows allow the scheduler to look for more open options in case there are no open spots visible.
9. After the scheduler has made the selection, they will be taken to the Referral Information page where they can add Referral Orders, ICD-10 code, and any additional notes. Click 'Next' to be taken to the final confirmation page.
10. The next screen allows for final review of the referral information and confirming the appointment.
UPDATE: If there is a need to go back to the main schedule a patient screen, blockit has updated this process so the query does not reset. This allows the scheduler to maintain the original information when needing to go backward to make changes. See image below:
